| Description: | The 40TH ANNUAL RIVER ROAD SHOW, sponsored by the Louisiana Art and Artists Guild, is receiving entries for the December 2 - January 29 exhibit at the Louisiana State Archives Building in Baton Rouge. Deadline for entries is SEPTEMBER 14, 2009. Entry fee is $35 for three entries and $5 for each additional submission up to 10. This is a national competition with cash prizes of $2,800. All United States artists 18 years and older are invited to submit any original two-dimensional art except photography or digitally-created/enhanced works. The show will be juried and judged by Don Andrews, an internationally known artist, author and instructor. He is a graduate of the Ringling School of Art, Sarasota, Florida, and a resident of Fairhope, Alabama. Don is an active member and past board director of the American Watercolor Society. His paintings have received numerous awards in national competitions, including three awards from the American Watercolor Society, and two Best of Show awards from the New England Watercolor Society. Don has conducted over 400 painting workshops throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, and Africa. Don is the author of the books, Interpreting the Figure in Watercolor and Rough Sketches: Short Stories of a Traveling Artist, as well as the video, Making Watercolor Glow. His new book, Interpreting the Landscape in Watercolor, has just been released, as well as his five new DVDs, available individually or as a Watercolor Workshop Set. | |
