Description:

From 73rd annual Sugar Cane Festival Website:

Each year our festival honors the sugar cane producers and processors in recognition of the benefits of the sugar industry and how it affects Louisiana and the nation. The festival celebrates the contributions of the sugar industry in 23 sugar producing parishes, which include approximately 27,000 hard working people and has an economic impact of about $2.2 billion. Its a sweet community effort that truly involves volunteers, honorees and members throughout the state.

The festival is always held in New Iberia every September and honors the cane growers, mill operators and others in the industry with ceremonies, parties, parades, royalty, exhibits, and dancing in the streets.
