Description: | From Mardi Gras 2016 Website: Along Bayou Lafourche, Mardi Gras parades are elaborate, but family-oriented celebrations, without the crowds of larger cities. Officially, the Mardi Gras season begins on January 6, the Epiphany, and lasts until "Fat Tuesday", a day of feasting before the observation of the Lenten season. For two weeks prior to Mardi Gras Day, the Cajuns celebrate a wholesome, madcap experience enjoyed by all ages. Parades and other Mardi Gras events are held in several communities where groups of families and friends get together to eat, drink and enjoy the parades. Barbeque pits and crawfish boils line the parade routes where visitors are always welcome to join in the fun!
